Homes: City Park / North Park / Richmond Heights

This community lies north of downtown, on the west bank of the South Saskatchewan River and (generally) east of Warman Rd. It is close to the industrial employment, and the airport, and has views across the river of the University of Saskatchewan campus.

There are three neighbourhoods in this area, from south to north (moving away from downtown) are City Park (up to 33rd St W), North Park (above 33rd Street) and Richmond Heights, just south of Circle Drive and overlooking Archibald Park along the river, and access to the Meewasin Trail pathways, the Meewasin Riverworks observation area, the CPR Bridge. There is the Woodlawn Cemetery on the other (west) side of Warman Road with a small residential community on the other side, surrounded on the other three sides by light industrial land.

This area grew after 1913, once a Municipal Railway line connected it to downtown, and was developed largely in a grid pattern, with other streets following the coutours of the riverside slopes. Spadina Crescent runs along the scenic South Saskatchewan River

Schools

This neighbourhood has 2 public elementary schools and 1 Catholic elementary school. The public library's main branch is close by in downtown or to the north in the Mall at Lawson Heights. High schools are out side the neighbourhood but SIAST's Kelsey Institute is just to the west and The university of Saskatchewan campus is just to the south and across the river.

Shopping

There are some local shops in a strip mall located on Alexandra Avenue., but there is plenty of shopping nearby in the downtown or to the north in Canarama Centre,or the Mall at Lawson Heights

Recreation

This neighbourhood has a number of small city parks, as well as the George D Archibald Park with an indoor ice arena, baseball diamond and soccer fields, as well as access to the riverfront Meewasin Trail recreational pathway. The area is close to the famous Granite Curling Club, just to the south. For culture enthusiasts, there is the 25th Street Theatre as well as the Mendel Art Gallery and Civic Conservatory in Kinsmen Park, which also has the century-old Kinsmen Park Rides amusement area. Just to the west is the Harry Bailey Aquatic Centre and The Sands Golf Dome.

Homes

There are some historic pre-World War II dwellings in North Park, , though most dwellings in this area date to the 1950s and 1960s. The area is 65% owner-occupied and average home parices ranged $105,000 - $145,000 (2006).
